An Italian writer, writing under the pen name Elena Ferrante, was born in Naples in 1943. She is the author of more than 10 books. Ferrante’s anonymous books came to the spotlight when The New York Times ran a story about her in an attempt to identify who was the writer.
Ferrante has never been photographed and can be interviewed only in written, via emails. Moreover, even her editor and publisher have never seen her in person. It is assumed that she is married and has children.
