What is the responsibility of an author? Why is the woman writer isolated? What should be searched for in between the literature and politics? What shades and focus does the post-war topic have in literature? Women writers – participants of the Zabel International Forum have already responded these questions and this is just the beginning.
Public speeches, lectures, interviews, panel discussions… In order to understand and also to explain the role of women writers in society Zabel International Forum united both the writers and the readers on one platform. Forum provided an opportunity to seek for solutions and to find ways to achieve them through open dialogue and honest communication. Today, the most important mission of Zabel Forum became a reality within the framework of “The Power of Cultural Diplomacy: Literature without Boarders” project by ARI Literature Foundation in the framework of The EU-funded “Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process: Stage 3” (ATNP-3) programme implemented by Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF).
In the framework of this unique collaboration two Turkish writers, Defne Suman and Asli Perker were presented at the www.zable.am platform, where they talked about their literary careers/paths, shared their thoughts and recommendations at the masterclasses and panel discussions.
Moreover, a new edition of Write in Armenia International Creative Writing Camp for Young Writers has been implemented. This is one of the most successful projects of ARI Literature Foundation. The Creative Writing International Camp this time united Armenian and Turkish young writers around the goals to get closer to the literary field, grow professionally, as well as get to know each other and start a dialogue.
Lectures, readings, group discussions… The programme of the camp with participation of tutors-writers and invited experts was intensive and useful.
The alumni of the previous editions of the Write in Armenia International Camp have already registered their first success stories – debut novels, literary awards and new perspectives. And of course, at the core of it lay the relations and sincere dialogue generated during the camp.
The overall project results, 6 months of collaborative work have been finalized in a short film.
